President's Welcome Message! |
Hull Circle was formed in 1911
and was the 7th Circle of
the Catenian Association. We held our 1000th meeting on 28th June 1996 with
visiting brothers from all over the country. In 2011 Hull Catenians
celebrated meeting in the city for 100 years. The current membership
stands at 24 and we are actively campaigning to increase our membership.
Our membership is drawn from the parishes in the Hull area of the Middlesborough Diocese. The Circle, as a unit, does not become directly
involved with parishes, but the brothers are expected, and do play leading
roles in the support of their parish, clergy and local committees, and
provide expert help for their Parish Priests.
On the second Wednesday of every month, a short meeting is held at Lazaats Hotel, starting at 7.30 pm. The meeting is followed by dinner. The raising of funds for charitable causes is not a prime objective of Catenian Circles but social events and charitable evenings contribute to the President's Charitable fund which is distributed annually to his chosen charities. In addition to the monthly meetings we organise many social events to involve wives and families. We also visit and keep in contact with the widows of our past members on a regular basis.
